August's Books

IT'S THE START OF A NEW ERA; THE MOST ANTICIPATED, INTRIGUING AND THE COOLEST COVER

With each month comes the hard-almost-impossible choice of choosing the 'Book of the Month'... and that is how, while we were going over books for August's Book of the Month, we realised we needed a new system.

So this idea came about, each month ZOM will have not 1, but 3 Books of the Month, the most anticipated, the most intriguing, and the coolest cover. Super excited about this, more books for you guys and less hard choices for me, so really, its a win-win!! Yay!

So yeah, without further ado, here is August's Books:

-Most Anticipated: The Rise of Nine, Pittacus Lore
Summary (from Goodreads):
"Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive.
Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others. . . .
I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others--including John.
But so are they.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They caught me in New York--but I escaped.
I am Number Six.
They want to finish what they started.
But they'll have to fight us first."

For the most anticipated book, it was a hard choice between Nevermore by James Patteson, the final book in the Maximum Ride series, Two weeks Notice by Rachel Caine and The Rise of Nine, but I am a huge Lorien Legacies fan, and I have waited for this book for so long and it's almost here!!

The Rise of Nine is to be published 21st August in America and 30th August here in England.

-Most Intriguing: If I lie, Corrine Jackson

Summary (from Goodreads):
"A powerful debut novel about the gray space between truth and perception.
Quinn’s done the unthinkable: she kissed a guy who is not Carey, her boyfriend. And she got caught. Being branded a cheater would be bad enough, but Quinn is deemed a traitor, and shunned by all of her friends. Because Carey’s not just any guy—he’s serving in Afghanistan and revered by everyone in their small, military town.
Quinn could clear her name, but that would mean revealing secrets that she’s vowed to keep—secrets that aren’t hers to share. And when Carey goes MIA, Quinn must decide how far she’ll go to protect her boyfriend…and her promise."

I chose this book because it's different and the plot is interesting and unique. If I lie comes out August 28th and personally I can't wait!

-Cover: Earth Girl, Janet Edwards
"Summary (from Goodreads):
2788. Only the handicapped live on Earth. While everyone else portals between worlds, 18-year-old Jarra is among the one in a thousand people born with an immune system that cannot survive on other planets. Sent to Earth at birth to save her life, she has been abandoned by her parents. She can’t travel to other worlds, but she can watch their vids, and she knows all the jokes they make. She’s an ‘ape’, a ‘throwback’, but this is one ape girl who won’t give in.
Jarra invents a fake background for herself – as a normal child of Military parents – and joins a class of norms that is on Earth to excavate the ruins of the old cities. When an ancient skyscraper collapses, burying another research team, Jarra’s role in their rescue puts her in the spotlight. No hiding at back of class now. To make life more complicated, she finds herself falling in love with one of her classmates – a norm from another planet. Somehow, she has to keep the deception going.
A freak solar storm strikes the atmosphere, and the class is ordered to portal off-world for safety – no problem for a real child of military parents, but fatal for Jarra. The storm is so bad that the crews of the orbiting solar arrays have to escape to planet below: the first landing from space in 600 years. And one is on collision course with their shelter."
